Sukari Jones, B.A. Vassar College, M.F.A. NYU Tisch School of the Arts, is a member of the Advanced BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theater Workshop, and an alum of the Public Theater’s Emerging Writers group, WP Theater formerly The Women’s Project. Sukari has been produced and developed at The Public Theater, The Cherry Lane Theater, Lincoln Center Theater, Lark Play Development Center, Barrington Stage Company, Joe’s Pub, Feinstein’s/54 Below, National Alliance of Musical Theatre Conference (NAMT) and Goodspeed Opera House. Fellowships: MacDowell Colony, W.K. Rose (Vassar College), Catwalk Art Residency, Eugene O’Neill Theatre Center National Music Theatre Conference INCUBATOR residency. Sukari’s work in film and TV includes: songwriter for the Apple TV+ film Spirited, Amazon Prime Video’s Harlem Season 1 (The Sunken Place and My White Liberal Parents in the Get Out! The Musical! episodes plus upcoming Season 3: the Girls Trip the Musical episode songs Gonna Be Us and I Got Drugs In My Booty); Sukari penned the theme song for PBS children’s program Book Drop, and served as writer’s assistant and script coordinator for the Hulu/FX series Kindred. Currently, Sukari is working on lyrics for an upcoming Broadway musical.
