Matt Bowen

Matt Bowen is an ASCAP award-winning composer based in Los Angeles. He fuses his background as a classically trained violinist with his decades-long experience recording rock bands to write and produce rich, eclectic, and handmade scores for film and television. Most recently, Matt co-scored Season 4 of Amazon’s dark superhero franchise THE BOYS, as well as its critically acclaimed spinoff GEN V, with composer Christopher Lennertz. Contrasting the twisted world of the Vought Cinematic Universe are Matt’s eccentric, energetic, and earnest scores to Hulu’s R-rated feature film comedies THE BINGE and its sequel, IT’S A WONDERFUL BINGE.

Some of Matt’s other varied credits include the gritty Emmy Award-winning documentary BLOOD ROAD, the raucous Netflix TV series BEST WORST WEEKEND EVER., and episodes of the animated anthology series THE BOYS PRESENTS: DIABOLICAL.

In addition to composing, Matt has contributed as a score-producer, arranger, orchestrator, and additional-music-composer on a wide variety of projects including BAD MOMS, THE WAR WITH GRANDPA, EL CAMINO CHRISTMAS, RIDE ALONG, THE BOSS, and THE WEDDING RINGER.

Before pivoting to composing full-time, Matt worked with record producer Matt Wallace (Maroon 5, Faith No More), and engineered RIAA-certified platinum singles by Michael Franti & Spearhead (“Say Hey”) and O.A.R. (“Shattered”).

Matt grew up with a bow-in-hand, having played the violin since the age of three. His scores are often adorned by bowing instruments that are not intended to be bowed, creating unique and provocative textures. And yet, Matt remains steadfast in his commitment to not making the obvious pun with his last name.
