Kim Baum

Kim Baum is a Los Angeles-based independent music supervisor. Eternally inspired by music and its power to elevate storytelling, the roots of Kim’s knowledge and affection for the art run deep. From carefully curating mixtapes and record store racks, to promoting and working closely with indie musicians in Nashville, to finding and securing the perfect deep cut to elevate a major motion picture scene, Kim’s more than 25 years of accumulated experience in the music and film industry have given her a deeply insightful and well-rounded creative voice.

Before going freelance and starting her company Picture Notes in 2021, Kim spent over 12 years in the New Line Cinema music department under the Warner Bros. Pictures umbrella. She started at New Line in 2008 as an assistant and over time transitioned to a music executive role, working her way up to Director, Music. Alongside her mentor and beloved colleague, Erin Scully (EVP, Music), she managed all manner of music duties from script to screen for the entire slate of New Line films, with budgets ranging from $5 million to $100+ million. During her time at the studio, Kim worked on over 50 feature films such as IT, Shazam!, Game Night, Horrible Bosses, The Hobbit film series and The Conjuring Universe – including music supervising IT Chapter Two and the Annabelle films, among others.

With a love of deep catalog that traces back to her years spent working in record stores, interpersonal skills developed as a music publicist, and tenure as a Film Music executive, Kim’s comprehensive knowledge of the industry makes her a true asset to any project. Known for her passion and professionalism, she has earned a stellar reputation among filmmakers, composers, studio executives, artists and licensors alike. In her current role as an independent music supervisor and consultant, Kim continues to thrive on creative collaboration and remains happily focused on the craft and career she loves.

Next up for Kim is the Warner Bros./DC Studios film The Flash, releasing in June 2023 and the New Line film Salem’s Lot, slated for release in 2024.
